What can I expect at my first visit?

During your first visit, you'll start by filling out our new patient packet. A licensed therapist will complete a comprehensive assessment including a review of your medical history, discussion of your symptoms and goals, as well as physical tests/measurements. Based on this assessment, a personalized treatment plan will be developed to address your specific needs. Sometimes a brief treatment will also be provided on the first visit, and a home exercise plan will be developed.

Can I be seen if I don't have insurance?

Yes, we offer self-pay physical therapy services to patients that do not have insurance. A referral from your doctor is still preferred. If you do not have a referral, California state law allows you to have direct access to physical therapists, limited to 12 visits or 45 days, whichever comes first. After that, a referral from your doctor is required if you want to continue physical therapy.

What types of treatment do you offer?

Treatment may include manual therapy, therapeutic exercises, therapeutic activities, gait training, physical modalities such as ultrasound or electrical stimulation, postural and ergonomic education, and more.

How long will it take to see the results of physical therapy?

Treatment affects each person differently. Some patients experience pain relief right away, some might not notice any improvements for several weeks. Consistent participation in both clinic appointments and home exercises empowers you to regain mobility, manage pain, and achieve your therapy goals effectively.

Will I get a massage during physical therapy?

Massage may be part of your treatment. Rehabilitation specialists are trained in a variety of techniques that may help with your recovery. Massage is used for three reasons typically – to facilitate venous return from a swollen area, to relax a tight muscle, or to relieve pain. Contrary to common thought, massage does not increase circulation.

Why is physical therapy a good choice?

More than half of all Americans are suffering from pain. Whether it is a recent episode or chronic, pain in America is a serious problem. However, many do not even know that physical therapists are well equipped to not only treat pain but also its source.
Physical therapists are experts at treating movement and neuro-musculoskeletal disorders. Pain often accompanies a movement disorder, and physical therapists can help correct the disorder and relieve the pain.
